In 1984 the Cantiere del Pardo entrusted the French Alain Jezquel with the task of designing the Grand Soleil 343, successor to the successful Grand Soleil 34. The designer creates a fast and seaworthy boat in which he mixes racing nature and cruising attitude without exasperating one or the other. Built in solid fiberglass with a balsa sandwich deck and cast iron bulb, the boat has a large cockpit (the rudder is tiller) with a low, narrow and long deckhouse underlined by a blue band. The rig is at the masthead, with the latter resting on the deck, the rudder blade is protected by skeg. The interiors, in teak, are well finished and have two double cabins with an aft bathroom equipped with a waxed wardrobe; The chart table is large. It was produced until 1998.
